Construction management statement
The purpose of a construction management statement (or construction management plan) is to outline the approach to be taken for managing construction works. The statement ensures that possible impacts that may arise from the works have been appropriately identified, managed and minimised.
It is typically prepared as part of a planning application and addresses the broad planning, and construction of the project, as well as the detailed procedures, sequencing and methodology that will be adopted. The statement is submitted to the planning authority for approval, and must then be strictly adhered to, with any changes needing agreement from the authority.
Items that might be included in a construction management statement include:
- Drawings and plans.
- Access arrangements for vehicles, plant and personnel.
- Location of offices, unloading/loading areas, reception, site facilities, and so on.
- Screening and hoarding details.
- Storage areas.
- Control measures for dust and mud.
- Site waste management plan.
- Lighting of the site.
- Drainage control measures.
- Access and protection arrangements for the public.
- Points of contact and complaints procedures.
